Final Stakeholder Workshop, Suffolk

On the 19th May 2016, the final Suffolk Stakeholder Workshop took place in Ipswich, Suffolk. From iCOASST, Jon French (UCL), Mike Walkden (WSP), Jonathan Simm (HRW), Belen Lopez de San Roman Blanco (HRW) and Robert Nicholls (Soton) attended. There were 10 stakeholders, including many who had attended earlier iCOASST events.

New Book on Coastal Simulation Published

As explained by Prof. Richard Dawson (Newcastle University) at the iCOASST final conference, the future of coastal areas is contingent upon multiple pressures, which when analysed independently, tell us very little about what to realistically expect in the decades ahead. Understanding better the uncertainties and interplay between the driving forces of coastal change and hence, how particular coasts may look in 25, 50 and 100 years from now is critical for adaptive planning.

Decadal Coastal Simulation: UK and International Experience and Prognosis

The final conference of the iCOASST Project took place at the Institution of Civil Engineers over two days where the results of the iCOASST project and related research in other countries were discussed at length. We were pleased to welcome 90 delegates to the meeting, including 12 delegates from outside the UK. They comprised academics, consultants and practitioners and the research was presented and critiqued from these multiple perspectives with short presentations followed by question and answer sessions.

Systems Analysis 2015

Attila Lazar and Andres Payo attended the 'Systems Analysis 2015' conference in Laxenburg, Austria, 11-13 November 2015. They represented the ESPA Deltas and iCOASST projects with two poster presentations. The conference aimed to share the best practices and state-of-the-art methods in systems analysis. The three day conference was packed with oral presentations and with about a hundred poster presentations providing ample opportunities to engage with participants working in similar fields.

Stakeholder Workshop - East Anglian Coastal Forum

Helene Burningham, from UCL, presented the iCOASST project to the East Anglian Coastal Group (EACG) meeting on 18th March 2015. Dr. Burningham’s presentation focused on usability and benefits of iCOASST outputs for the coastal managers and users.

Coastal Sediments 2015, San Diego

The next Coastal Sediments conference is due to take place from 11th to 15th May 2015 in San Diego, USA. The iCOASST project is organising a special session on Predicting Decadal Coastal Geomorphic Evolution. This session will feature presentations from eleven members of the consortium, allowing iCOASST to make an impact at the conference.

32-month Consortium Meeting, Oxford

The iCOASST project will hold its 32-month Consortium Meeting at the University of Oxford on 27th to 29th January 2015. This meeting will feature representatives from each partner organisation, along with the Environment Agency and Channel Coast Observatory.
