WP3 - Application and Validation

Case studies will be undertaken in two contrasting sub-cells (Liverpool Bay and the Suffolk Coastline) to evaluate the ability of the results from Deliverables 1 and 2 to reproduce qualitatively correct and quantitatively useful morphodynamic behaviour at a regional scale. To explore the importance of data quality we will experiment with deliberately degrading the input data, to understand the influence on the outputs.

Available data for these areas, includingsea surface height, meteorology, currents and waves, as well as radar (topography/bathymetry)   will be gathered using a variety of data sets and sources. The data will then be used to validate existing or newly created models.  We will then simulate future trajectories of coastal morphological evolution for a range of scenarios, including consideration of their possible effects on flood and coastal erosion risk.
